CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS OF THE ABSENTEE SEMINOLE TRIBE OF TEXAS

PREAMBLE

We, the members of the Absentee Seminole Tribe of Texas, pursuant to the authority conferred by the Indian Reorganization Act of June 18, 1934. (48 Stat. 964) do hereby Organize a Tribal Council for the well-being of The Tribe and its members, to direct and control our own affairs, to protect and develop our land and resources for ourselves and our children, and to ensure the political integrity and cultural identity of the Tribe, and for these purposes do ordain and establish this constitution and set of Bylaws as rules for the Absentee Seminole Tribe of Texas.

ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. The membership of the Absentee Seminole Tribe of Texas shall consist of all Persons whose names appear on the United States Scouts Seminole Negro Indian Scout Detachment Muster Roll 1870-1914, and their Descendants, regardless of place of residence.
